Situated between the mountains of the Lake District and the Solway coast, Packice is home to “all around” Alaskan Malamutes.
We currently own 4 Alaskan Malamutes. They are Dash, Leader, Twisp, and the boy we kept from our first litter, Rolo.
We also own a cat (Wowy). All live together with us our in house, well apart from Wowy who prefers his own little house in the yard.
Our interest in Malamutes started back in the late 90’s. We have always enjoyed the active outdoor life, and the working side of owning Malamutes really appealed to us. Temperament and working ability were, and still are, very important to us, so we pursued lines that excelled in these.
Now in our second decade of owning Mals, nothing has changed in our principles. We still own a relatively small number of dogs, so we can enjoy life as a "unit". Nobody misses out. All the dogs still live in the house, all still fed a carefully prepared raw food diet, all sill go everywhere with us, including work.
It would be nice to own a larger amount of dogs to run large teams, however Mals live, and need, an active life, so we make sure they all get to "live" that kind of lifestyle regardless of age.
This decade has seen us let the "golden girls" , Breezer and Kia, join Koi and Acer at our little piece of heaven. These two taught us a lot about Malamutes, but there is always a lot more to learn.
On a happier note it has seen us expand our family of Mals by breeding our first litter. The "Twisplets" were born on the 27th May 2013. More great new friendships, and its been lovely to see these pups lighting up others lives, as well as our own.
Ian currently serves on the committee of the Alaskan Malamute Club of the United Kingdom, and also plays an active role on the clubs Working Sub Committee too. Aimee currently serves on the Clubs Health Sub Committee
We will continue to learn and expand our knowledge, and hope that the next decade is equally fun packed and rewarding as the last.
We hope you enjoy looking at our site.
